Project Design Notes
Photography Portfolio
About The Project
I made a website for one of the previous years photography students. Yarelis Rodriguez was one of last years participants in the portfolio review. She is set to graduate this May, next week. Her Adobe Portfolio site will be terminated after she is no longer apart of the program and she was looking to get another one.
I offered to make her a website and she took me up on it. I started by asking her what kind of use she wanted through her site. She told me that she wanted it to call people’s attention to her work, her effort, and her photography skills. She wanted a site that highlighted her work so that people would be enticed to choose her as their photographer.
Yarelis’s Portfolio’s Evolution
I took a look at her Adobe portfolio site and discussed with her what she wanted on her website. We agreed on the home, portfolio, about, and contact pages. I wanted to go with a dark theme because it was different than what I had perviously done with my other websites. It also goes well with her brand colors and allows the attention to be more on the photos. Once I had designed the website, I considered and ran by her the idea of a pricing page. She agreed and so I went forward with standard block layout boxes.
Once I had finished I suggested we add in a creative section as that is a good portion of her recently taken photos. She agreed, gave me the pricing, and I decided to make a specialized section to promote her creative photos.
